Steam train
Unique journey with Steam Locomotive on the Inland Line
About the association
We are a non-profit association that operates steam train services during the summer on Fridays and Saturdays in July and early August, with departures from Arvidsjaur in the inland of Norrland to Slagnäs, a round trip of 50 km one way. We are a group passionate about maintaining and running steam locomotives, preserving them and especially the knowledge for the future. The steam train journey takes you through genuine northern Swedish forest environments with mountains and valleys, marshlands, lakes, and tarns, with memories from the construction of the inland railway including old workmen’s barracks. In Slagnäs, there is an opportunity, while we lubricate the engine, to climb up on the locomotive and look around and talk to the driver/fireman. On the way home from Slagnäs, we stop at the beautiful sandy beach at Lake Storavan. There we offer sausages for grilling and swimming for those who wish, as well as open views with mountains and beautiful sunsets reflecting in the lake’s clear water. A magical journey not to be missed, if we may say so ourselves.
