About us
The resort
Laponia Resort was created in 2022 when Hotell Laponia acquired Camp Gielas. Before that, Hotell Laponia had acquired Hotell Skogen in 2019.
Laponia means Lapland in Latin, and that name means a lot to us, as Hotell Laponia was founded as early as 1957 and is therefore strongly associated with Arvidsjaur.
Since the 1970s, Laponia has had German car testers on site when the first tests began on a plowed ice track. Since then, the automotive industry has established itself here, and today Arvidsjaur accounts for a large part of the total winter tests. Since the 2000s, the tourism and event industry has grown stronger, and today the destination represents about equal parts industry and event activities. We are a growing destination in Lapland with a wide range of activities, making us a destination to be reckoned with!
Environment and sustainability
